Staying Fit During the Holidays!

The holidays are a time to celebrate, we spent most of our day eating, drinking, indulging and then we end up feeling like balloons by the time it's all over. It's almost an unspoken rule that, with the holidays, comes unlimited eating and incomplete workouts.

You don't have to let every party become your own personal eating contest, and you don't have to let shopping take the place of your usual exercise routine. All it takes is flexibility, creativity and a new way of defining exercise.

Here are a few tips on staying active and healthy during the upcoming holiday season:
1. Keep going!
It is tempting to ditch your workouts as your days fill with wrapping and shopping, but it is critical to stay active during these times. Exercising will help you deal with the added stress and give you more energy for the long list of things you need to accomplish, as well as helping to manage your weight.

2. Exercise wherever you can!
You already know to take the stairs, park far away from you car and so on, but this holiday season if you are traveling be sure to put together a short circuit workout or check out the hotel gym. Even if it is small and most of the equipment is broken, be creative and find a way to get your heart rate spiked.

3. Make it a family affair!
What better way to get the family together than the holidays, so make use of this great opportunity to get your whole family involved in staying active. Go for a walk around the neighborhood to look at decorations, play touch football before a big meal, or have a snowball fight! Keeping everyone involved with provide for a healthier family and will motivate you to stay active.

However you handle the holidays, make this the year that you don’t gain extra weight. Make a conscious decision to do everything you can to stay active and eat healthy while not depriving yourself of all the fun. Like everything else in list, its all about moderation, moderation, moderation.
